The Underplayed Benefits of Coffee Cellulite Scrub

We hate to break it to you, but it’s not always peaches and cream when it comes to keeping our skin looking beautiful.

That’s why some women–ahem, some Scrub Club Subscription members – go to great lengths to enhance what their mamas gave 'em. In this case, it’s trying to get rid of cellulite.

As women, many of us store weight in our thighs, and while lasting solutions for zapping cellulite in this area can be costly, our coffee cellulite scrubs are not.

Coffee scrubs made using coffee grounds may lessen the appearance of cellulite.

How does this work?

Scrubbing using a circular motion helps to stimulate circulation. Caffeine also temporarily tightens the skin, making it look a little smoother.

“Ok, ok! I am going to jump on the bandwagon of coffee scrubs currently all over the internet. I recently purchased a coffee scrub from The Coffee Scrub and really loved the results. The texture of the product and the way it left my skin feeling smooth was kinda awesome. The added blood flow from a circular motion of scrubbing seems to help. Plus the scrubbing and oils will definitely cause the skin to become soft and supple; what do we have to lose?!”

What do you have to lose? And now you’re wondering...

Do Coffee Scrubs Really Work for Cellulite?

Let’s start by understanding what exactly cellulite is.

Also known as lipodystrophy, cellulite affects the way the fat under your skin is shaped, making it look lumpy or dimply on the surface.

The amount of cellulite you have depends on factors such as genetics, hormones, and exercise.

In fact, the underlying cause behind cellulite can be rather complex, with reasons for it including:

  • Water retention
  • Poor microcirculation
  • Inflammation
  • Overproduction of collagen
  • Fat storage

So how is caffeine a solution?

  • Blood Flow: Some people actually use coffee body scrubs to fight the occurrence of varicose veins in the same way some use caffeine to increase blood flow and possibly reduce the appearance of cellulite.

It doesn’t stop there, the very act of applying the coffee scrub can help similar types of skin issues.
  • Antioxidants: The main chemical in coffee, caffeine, as a natural antioxidant has many benefits, including heart disease- and cancer-fighting properties.

But when it specifically comes to your skin, antioxidants also neutralize the effects of free radicals (age spots and wrinkles), which can damage the inner layer of skin.

So regular use of coffee scrub allows the skin to absorb this antioxidant and can even help prevent premature aging.
  • Skin Texture: Caffeine is a vasodilator meaning it constricts blood vessels in the skin. This action works to make blood vessels tighter and firmer at a higher rate, which makes your skin much smoother.

When it comes specifically to cellulite, caffeine stimulates fat cells to break down fat, thus preventing it from accumulating in fat cells as well.

The antioxidant content of caffeine also makes your skin clean and smooth.

While coffee scrubs may not show any obvious effects they will reduce the appearance of cellulite.

“Can't live without. This is hands down the best scrub. After ONE use I could tell a difference. I have extremely dry skin and stretch marks(thanks to motherhood💕). The first time I used it only on my marks and it has been a life changer. Next, I used it on my face and it made me feel so much more confident in my skin. This will forever be in my skin routine now.💕❤”

Now let’s take a deeper look at what the science says about coffee for cellulite.

A coffee scrub works its magic on cellulite in various ways.

First, caffeine in the coffee dilates blood vessels beneath the skin. These stimulating effects may tighten your skin by boosting the blood flow and diminishing the excess water.

Secondly, coffee’s rich antioxidants include phenols — plant-based chemicals — that fight free radicals.

...And don’t get us started on coffee’s natural exfoliating properties.

Chlorogenic acids found in coffee clear away clogged pores and reduce inflammation on your skin leaving it smooth to the touch.

Again, while exfoliation itself may not get rid of cellulite, the effects of caffeine might reduce the appearance.

In fact, some of our customers share glowing reviews on the impact of cellulite treatment using caffeine and our other ingredients like:

  • Grapeseed oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Almond Oil
  • Vitamin E
  • Vanilla Extract

“At first I did not know how to use it until I really used it and felt how soft my skin was and I love it!! My Stretch marks are slowly fading but I can see the results ... I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is thinking about buying :)”

How Do I Use Cellulite Coffee Scrub At Home?

Before you go applying the scrub to your skin, here are a few things to consider:

  • Always apply your coffee scrub to clean skin and massage gently over the problem areas with your fingertips — don’t rub it in.
  • Coffee grounds can be very messy so we recommend that you perform the entire process in the shower to prevent stains.
  • For maximum results, we recommend you use the coffee scrub 1 to 2 times a week. Think of this as the rule of thumb when it comes to your masks and scrubs.

Lastly, it might take a few weeks or even longer of regular use to see the significant results so patience is the name of the game.

“Love love love. My skin is in love. The way it leaves your skin..heaven..i use it stretch marks are diminishing on my hips waist and behind..i am a forever kids use it too. My two youngest 2 and 4 years old have eczema and this has improved their skin and they have not had a outbreak since i started using it on them..oh and also my 11 year old son…”

- Marie. C

Here’s your step-by-step process:

  • Rub: While standing in the bathroom place a half handful of the coffee scrub in your hand. Using your fingers, proceed to rub it all over the cellulite-stricken area. And you’re done with step one, hooray.
  • Massage: To get the intense cellulite-busting effect, you’ll need a firm and vigorous massage. So using your knuckles, start kneading up and down the cellulite in long stroking motions. Do this for at least five minutes.
  • Wrap: Using a reliable cling wrap, cover the part where you have the cellulite and leave the wrap on for fifteen minutes.
  • Wash: Now it’s time to rinse with lukewarm water, or better yet, you can go ahead and have a full-on shower. Just don’t use soap afterward to preserve all the deep-penetrating oils found in the scrub.

“I noticed that when I use this scrub, the results are quick and will last a day or two! So why not give it a try?”

- Katie

DIY Coffee Scrub: Yay or Nay?

Well let’s take a look at the common ingredients of DIY coffee scrub, shall we?

  • Coffee groundscontain caffeine ad as we’ve learned, caffeine perks up the skin and scrubs away dead skin cells.
  • Sugar acts as an exfoliant that brightens skin and breaks up toxins responsible for the “bumpy” look thighs often take on.
  • Coconut oil softens skin, hydrates it, and can even help reduce the appearance of scars.

All positive and even alluring, right?

But the downside is unlike tested scrubs from The Coffee Scrubs, a homemade coffee scrub doesn’t come with an expiration date.

Why is this a problem?

Well, since you’re mixing used coffee grounds with other multiple ingredients you’re more likely to introduce bacteria into your DIY coffee scrub if they are stored long-term.

Store-bought coffee scrub typically includes some preservatives that ensure it’s safe to use until the expiration date hits. There’s no such guarantee with the DIY coffee scrub.

While it’s tempting to go for a DIY coffee scrub it’s much safer for your skin’s health to go for ready-to-use coffee scrub made particularly for cellulite reduction.

Choose to feed your skin with the organic blend of natural ingredients found in our coffee scrubs where each ingredient is intentionally included to provide quality care for your skin.

“The best product ever I'm very thankful to a friend who recommended the Coffee Scrub to me. It leaves my skin exfoliated and hydrated, it smells nice, and it has even reduced my visible cellulitis in a week.”
